Summary
Shula is an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon with over 12 years spent in UK first opinion practice.
Education
Shula graduated from the University of Liverpool with distinction in 2011. She completed a General Small Animal Surgery certificate in 2016 and was granted Advanced Practitioner status by the RCVS. She went on to complete an Advanced Certificate in Soft Tissue Surgery in 2021.
Experience
Shula has managed a huge variety of conditions in dogs, cats and exotic pets during her time in practice. Although she has spent a large amount of time performing advanced surgical procedures since 2016, she has always maintained some first opinion work including seeing out-of-hours and emergency cases. She has held practice leadership roles since 2017, initially as Senior Vet and subsequently as Clinical Director, which requires good working knowledge of best practice to support and mentor colleagues. Shula has delivered training on a variety of clinical subjects to vets and nurses, both in-person and via webinars, and in 2023 took part in a panel discussion around neutering of dogs at the BSAVA congress.
In 2021, Shula was appointed as Clinical Content lead for CVS (UK) Ltd. In this role she has had oversight of all client-facing communications, writing several articles and creating over 100 condition specific information sheets. She is creator and editor of an internal magazine featuring cases from across the company along with educational articles, and has written for several other publications both within and external to CVS.
